Miramare Castle



A stone's throw from our apartment, Miramare Castle is a masterpiece of 19th-century architecture commissioned by Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg. Its white and imposing structure, inspired by European princely residences, has several sumptuously furnished rooms that tell the story of its illustrious owner, including precious period furniture and refined frescoes. The castle is immersed in a vast 22-hectare park.

Piazza Unità D'Italia



Piazza Unità d'Italia is one of the most spectacular squares in Europe, directly overlooking the sea. Surrounded by majestic neoclassical and Art Nouveau buildings, including the Town Hall and the Lloyd Triestino Palace, the square is the beating heart of the city and a symbol of its Mitteleuropean history. In the evening, the soft lighting that illuminates the facades of the buildings transforms it into an enchanting setting, while the historic cafés that line it – such as the famous Caffè degli Specchi – offer a refined atmosphere.

Giant Cave



A few kilometres from Trieste lies a masterpiece of nature: the Grotta Gigante, the largest tourist cave in the world. Over 100 metres high and 280 metres long, this majestic underground cathedral fascinates visitors with its spectacular limestone concretions, including stalactites and stalagmites of incredible shapes. Walking along its illuminated paths, you descend into the heart of the earth to discover millions of years of geological history, accompanied by plays of light that enhance the magical and surreal atmosphere of this extraordinary place.



Miramare Marine Nature Reserve



At the foot of Miramare Castle, the Miramare Marine Nature Reserve is a paradise for lovers of nature and marine biology. Established to protect the coastal ecosystem of the Gulf of Trieste, the reserve is home to an extraordinary variety of marine species, from colourful fish to precious corals. Thanks to underwater trails and environmental education activities, visitors can discover the secrets of this unique environment, exploring its clear waters while snorkelling or through guided tours. 

Sanctuary of Monte Grisa



The Sanctuary of Monte Grisa, located on a hill overlooking Trieste, is a Marian-Catholic structure north of the city of Trieste; it stands at an altitude of 330 metres and is one of the most spectacular panoramic spots in the area. Its modern and imposing architecture makes it unique, and from its terrace you can enjoy an incredible view of the city, the sea and the surrounding mountains.

Val Rosandra



A few kilometres from Trieste lies the Rosandra Valley, a protected natural area that is a true paradise for trekking and climbing enthusiasts. Characterised by spectacular karst landscapes, it offers scenic trails, cliffs, caves and a charming waterfall. The valley is also an important archaeological area, with the remains of ancient Roman settlements and an old aqueduct that supplied the city.
